Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar speaks about her absence from the Paris Olympians’ homecoming celebration at Malacañang and parade in Manila last August 13 and 14. She missed these events along with fellow gymnasts Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo.
Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar released a statement on Monday addressing her absence, along with fellow gymnasts Emma Malabuyo and Aleah Finnegan, on the Heroes’ Welcome Parade on Wednesday.
“I was really hurt considering this was once in a lifetime opportunity I missed out on. I wanted to be part of the celebration with my fellow Olympians,” she said.
According to Levi, she was never informed of the event, nor was invited to attend, attaching a screenshot of her conversation with Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) President Cynthia Carrion saying that the event is only for the medalists.
“I truly wished I could have gone considering I have sacrificed endlessly to perform for my country and make everyone proud,” Levi added.
