Another dangerous road incident happened in Marikina — and thankfully, the entire encounter was captured on dashcam.
I was already preparing to make a left turn when suddenly, a motorcycle rider appeared coming straight from the opposite direction while counterflowing on a double yellow lane.
Instead of admitting the violation, the rider repeatedly insisted that I allegedly had no signal light.
But here’s the problem:
Even if a driver fails to signal properly, it does NOT give anyone the right to illegally counterflow.
The motorcycle rider was already violating a major traffic rule by driving on the opposite side of the road through a clearly marked double yellow line — an area specifically meant to prevent dangerous overtaking and head-on collisions.
A Few Seconds of Recklessness Can Change Lives
This incident could have ended much worse.
If I had completed my turn a little faster, or if another vehicle had been speeding through the area, this could have resulted in a serious accident or even fatalities.
Sadly, many drivers and riders still treat counterflowing as a shortcut instead of recognizing how dangerous it really is.
What the Double Yellow Lane Means
For those who may not know:
- A double yellow line means NO overtaking
- NO counterflowing
- NO crossing into the opposite lane unless allowed by traffic conditions or road markings
These lines exist to prevent accidents.
Ignoring them puts everyone at risk.
Dashcams Don’t Lie
This is exactly why dashcams are important.
Without video evidence, situations like this often become arguments filled with denial and blame shifting. The footage clearly shows what happened and who was violating traffic rules.
The purpose of posting this video is not to spread hate or encourage online harassment.
It is to promote accountability and remind everyone that road safety matters.
A Reminder to All Road Users
Whether you drive a car, ride a motorcycle, or commute daily, traffic rules exist for everyone.
Shortcuts and reckless decisions are never worth risking lives.
Please drive responsibly.
Please ride responsibly.
And please stop counterflowing.
