Ancestral house in Sta. Rosa, Laguna has been demolished, the house, oldest in Sta. Rosa, was reportedly torn down to give way to a a new McDonald’s branch.
there are many things to consider.
1. Is the existing structure are still safe for adaptive reuse?
2. does the owner of this house still maintains it prior selling this?
3. if this is a private property, the government can’t intervene here.
4. Does the house have a significant history or cultural importance to the vicinity?
mcdo has been doing adaptive reuse. we can’t blame them if they owner itself made decisions to demolish this.
People are giving reactions why would McDonald’s to demolish the house and just repair it instead. If the LGU is concern about conserving this ancestral house they had done something long time ago.
I have a relative that owns a ancestral house and she shared to us the difficulty in maintaining for the house. Common problem is the structural integrity of the building. Wooden flooring being eaten up by termites and weevils.
I guess this house is still owned by private entity and they have all the rights to sell and allow the buyer to do anything once sold.
